How do I take a VoiceMap tour?

Tours can only be taken in the VoiceMap app, not on the website. See Do I need the app to take a tour?

Before you set off, make sure you've downloaded your tour. You'll find it in the Downloaded folder in your Library.

  1. Open the tour from your Downloaded folder.
  2. Check the starting point shown on the tour cover page. Tap Get Directions to navigate there using Google Maps or another navigation app.
  3. Once you're at the starting point, tap Start Tour. The button becomes active when you're close enough.
  4. Walk the route. The app uses your GPS to trigger audio automatically as you reach each location – you don't need to tap anything.

Bring headphones and make sure your device is charged before you set off. Like any audio app, VoiceMap will play through your phone's speaker if you don't have headphones, but we don't recommend it – use it only as a last resort.

If you need to stop mid-tour, you can pause for short breaks or end the tour and resume it later – your progress is saved. See Can I stop and resume my tour?
